I'm going to be honest. The thought of working from home, no adult interaction, and entertaining my almost 1 year old during my "time off" is daunting. I 100% know I could not be a stay at home mom. It is beyond draining and I praise all the mamas who do it daily. But, I am going to make the best of unique circumstances and love on my munchkin while I can.
From here on out, I plan on being intentional with our time together. To hold myself accountable, each day I will post one fun activity or game we did together. I refuse to turn on the television (not that the stinker would sit still for more than 30 seconds anyways, but you get the point), be on my phone, or let my own boredom effect his day. So here we go! Day 1 of creating our our adventures and making our own fun starts now. :)
Day 10: Obstacle Course
This is nothing compared to what us Saville kids were put through by Scott on the daily, but it was a good chance for him to practice some gross motor skills. He liked it until we made him do the tunnel. You'd never know he was a scaredy cat by the way he flew head first off those cushions. He really worked up an appetite after this. Downed his Mexican beans, avocado, and chicken :) Followed by a gag reflex episode, puke, and second dinner to refill his tum tum. Alllll in a days work.
Day 9: More Water!
Water play, but outside today! He also wanted to check the rain gauge. Mr. Beau kept trying to steal the fishies.
Day 8: No nap today...
Aiden decided to not nap today, like at all. So you can imagine how things went this afternoon/evening...sensory bucket with random stuff he can throw it is! It kind of just turned into some Aiden free-time. I think he needed it! And yes, he is chewing on a hunk of celery.
Enjoy some raw footage of Aiden doodling around our basement :)
Day 7: Time to get outside
We wanted to go to the park, but since it was closed we settled for a tree right off the bike path. Aiden liked playing drums with the sticks, touching the tree bark, and having daddy hold him up to see the branches. Wasn't impressed with pinecones or trying to walk through the grass.
Day 6: Food Art
I found a few random left over baby foods and thought we would put them to good use. Not as many smiles today, but he was very serious about his artwork. My windows needed cleaning anyways. Spring cleaning made fun! :)
Day 5: Beach Time!
Today we took whole wheat flour and canola oil to make a DIY magic sand mixture. He wasn't super keen on digging in and getting dirty with his hands, but of course he was all about stirring and pretend eating it. I think all of our practice in the kitchen while I am making dinner has turned him into a future chef!! The bonus is this stuff stores for a long time, so you can do it again! Let me know if you want the easy recipe!!
Also - Update on our make-believe zoo day. Aiden says I was doing it wrong. He wants real animals. See picture below.
Day 4: Mama Mia!
Today was pasta play! This kid loved swinging it around like a lasso and feeding it to Beau. Quick and messy with easy clean-up. Check, check, and check :)
Day 3: Roll with the punches
I had planned to have Aiden crawl around a fake zoo and say all the animal sounds and walk like the animals. However, Aiden had zero interest in this today. And thats fine!
So it quickly turned into playing with Beau, playing with daddy, and checking out the workout equipment newly housed in our family room. Oh well, he had fun :)
Day 2: Fine Motor Practice
I needed something quick and simple to occupy him before dinner. I had an empty bread crumbs can in the recycle bin and some banana-grams tiles that hadn't been used in years. Boom. Easy. It quickly turned into a musical instrument, but he loved it!
Day 1: Water Play!
Bath time is an absolute favorite of Aiden's so I'm not sure why it took me so long to do this. Actually, I do. I didn't want to clean up the mess. Guilty! But, he freaking loved it. Flicked water on the cat, tried to bob for apples, and got soaking wet. He was actually occupied for a solid 15 minutes. Which is a TON for him.
XOXO,
Em
