So my 2020 "bucket list" blog post is already pretty much impossible. Here is my second draft of what I thought I was final. Crazy how things can change overnight. For myself, having a concrete list of things to look forward to makes the day to day seem less monotonous. Time to keep looking up and forward. We will get through it.
1. Support local restaurants
While we have carried out a few times, its just not the same! Plus, we have not been to a sit down meal with Aiden as a family in months. Literally. Which I know that means we haven't long before this whole COVID thing but that now that we can't do it, I really want to. So - Winn's, Pyra Pizzeria, and the El Dorado, we are coming for you!
2. Take the kiddo to Howell's and Rusty Star's Alpacas
Now that Aiden is walking and getting older, I cannot wait to show him everything that is out there. I just hope he is an animal lover like myself, so I have to start him young. :)
3. Visit the Rose Farm in Norwalk
This has been on my list since I discovered them on social media early this Winter, and now I have to wait even longer to visit! I promise you folks, I will make it there.
4. Take a solo trip
With my Europe trip being cancelled, I just feel the need to go. It might just be Chicago or even just Galena, but I gotta go!
5. Visit the Loess Hills
I have never spent much time if any on the "west coast" of Iowa. I've heard it is gorgeous and I'd love to do some camping and explore the area!
6. Have a dinner date somewhere unique
I'm eyeing up the Wallace House in Des Moines and/or the Wallace Life Center in Orient, IA as my out of the ordinary date night :)
7. Visit some wineries with my girls
I think every woman that has been home alone with kids, or pets, or partners for the this quarantine deserves a girls day/night out. I am dying to visit some of my favorites and try a few new places!
8. Take Aiden swimming
As much as he loves bath time, he is sure to LOVE swimming. I want to take him to the pool and a lake this summer. I even plan on filling up the little baby pool in our backyard.
9. Visit the Picket Fence Creamery
Another local delicacy I'd love to check out!
10. Find a new-to-me rural area to explore
Because small town Iowa is not dead yet. Working and living in a few different small towns has shown me how many hidden gems are out there. I hope to find a few and recommend them to as many people as I can. Des Moines is not the only place worth visiting in Iowa!
XOXO,
Em
